Aidan has extensive experience in all areas of construction, having started working for a General Contractor in Philadelphia, PA at the age of 13. He worked there through high school graduation, learning the construction process and becoming a finish carpenter. As a passionate carpenter, he briefly considered turning to a career in hand made wood furniture before opening his own general contracting business on the Philadelphia Main Line in 1979, focusing on renovation and additions.
During his time in the Philadelphia area, Aidan was very focused on staying true to the original style and feel of the buildings and homes he renovated and expanded. He developed a reputation for creating renovations and additions indistinguishable from the original structure, leading to work on several historic restoration projects.
Aidan left Philadelphia in 1998 to pursue his dream of working on new construction, which becoming less prevalent in the area due to a lack of available land. Moving to Florida, he began by building a spec home in the Aqualane Shores community of Naples, FL and joined Deerbrook, Inc., a local general contractor as a project manager. Aidan brought his passion for detail and quality, to his work in Florida, quickly becoming a partner with Deerbrook. While with Deerbrook, he worked on homes all over the Southwest Florida area from the Sanibel and Captiva Islands down to Marco Island.
In 2013, Aidan co-founded Calusa Construction, Inc. Fueled by over forty years’ experience and a deep respect and love for quality construction; he is a true master in his field. He is personally involved in every project Calusa takes on. His eye for detail is second to none, which shines through in every completed project. Under his leadership, Calusa’s resume boasts some of the finest new homes in Southwest Florida.
Aidan holds licenses as a Certified General Contractor and Home Inspector in Florida as well as a Certified Builder in South Carolina.

Calusa Construction far exceeded our expectations in the construction of our new beach home. We were savvy consumers since we had built a custom home previously but this experience differed in that it was a second home and we were managing decisions from afar. Calusa provided prompt communication, attention to detail, a knowledgeable team, and value.
Communication: We received regular updates from the start, which increased in frequency during the 16 month construction period and became almost daily towards the final few months. Emails, phone calls, pictures, even videos were sent to demonstrate progress. Whenever we had a question the email replies were almost immediate, and consistently by the next day. We have running documentation of each decision and outcome. Despite being miles away, we felt at ease that we were on top of the process.
Knowledgeable team: With Aidan Weir in charge and Joel Mulder as site manager, we couldn’t have asked for a more experienced, qualified team. When we raised concerns about wind, water and weather resistance, the reply was “We are going to build you a submarine”. The team’s experience building on the beach meant that important selections were made to assure durability and storm resistance.
Attention to details: Things we would not have thought of to match up, line up or inspect were finished to perfection. Not a back of a door, under a counter, hinge of a shutter, or alignment of a panel was acceptable unless it was exact. Even after the CO, the team was available to assure that all aspects of the home were to our satisfaction.
Value: Calusa sought out value in bids to subs and selection of building materials. They provided documentation on each payment.. The builder’s fee was fair and reasonable and he kept his word on all aspects of the contract.
We trusted Calusa Construction with one of our most valuable investments for the future and they did not disappoint.Client,
Calusa Construction, headed by Aidan Weir, tore down my 1948 cottage in Old Naples and constructed a marvelous new two story cottage and pool. The Calusa team provided an extraordinary attention to detail, emailed daily reports, and were always available for discussion or meeting. We did this long distance, and yet it was seamless. The recommendations for examining marble, or appliances, or roof styles/materials, and landscaping were excellent , and always with several source and cost ranges. The on-site foreman was meticulous and the site was always clean and orderly. We have built six houses, and this was the best experience , with a special outcome. I strongly recommend Calusa Construction and Aidan Weir as your home builder. His follow-up after occupancy has been impressive on the little things.
